Stöng í Þjórsárdal

Stöng is a historic farm probably buried in 1104 under the ash of the Hekla volcanic ash and rediscovered well after 835 years in 1939. If you wish a more present-day farm experience, you are welcome to visit the Þjóðveldisbærinn Stöng, which stands nearby.

How to find Stöng:

In the area of the Gjáin valley, south west Iceland close to the road 327. By coming from the south east, you can make it with a 2WD car up here.
