Hraunfossar

One of Icelandic wonders this Hraunfossar lava waterfall is. The water originates in the Langjökull glacier and flows under the surface of the Hallmundarhraun lava field. It pours within 900 meters to the river Hvítá.

Hraunfossar in not just a waterfall, it is natural revelation.

Hraunfossar lava waterfalls are in the western part of Icelandic inland.

From the Ring Road take the road nr. 50 and then road nr. 518. Road nr. 523 is gravel road (there are some geothermal pools along the way too), so you might not like it.

There is a road nr. 550 from Þingvellir (which converts into F550 –  but is passable with 2WD). Once you reach road nr. 518 (you can have a stop by Rúfoss too), just turn left and Hraunfossar is just kilometers (miles) away.
